CMS Proposes National Expansion of Joint Replacement Model

CMS has proposed expanding the Comprehensive Care for Joint Replacement model nationwide, marking a major step toward broader adoption of value-based payment models.

Beginning October 1, 2027, the revised and expanded model CJR-X, would be required for most hospitals, making it the first mandatory, nationwide test of an episode-based payment model.
